advice needed please

will hopefully b gettin a wee house snake soon  and as the title says need a bit of advice.

my bf is from south africa and kept these lil beauties for years back home and has been itching 2 get one here. now we've found 1 but he is a bit unsure about lighting for him as he never needed 2 worry about that when he kept them in there natural habitat. we've looked at loads of care sheets but none of them mention if u need any special uvb lights or anything. can any1 here please tell me?

snakes in general don't need uv, just heat.

THe reason i was told originally Shelby was because they are nocturnal animals and thus dont need it...though not sure how accurate that is

Ya only time to put a snake under U.V is when its sick

no its because they get all the calcium/vit.D from their whole-prey diet, so there is no need for uv.

Bright light could make it even more stressed, most snake don't need any Uv lighting. House
snake 100 % don't.

What sort of house snake are you getting,be very careful what your getting as most in the trade are
wild caught and can be really tricky to keep.

there great little snakes and never seen any need for light as said.and if hes from south africa i take it his house snakes were wild caught like 95% of them there are. best of luck

we,re getting a brown house snake from ben. he seemed nice and calm even when i held him as i was quiet nervous(even though he's quiet small) as i'm not used 2 snakes and only had held one before in the reptile zoo.
and yes the bf's previous snakes in sa were ones he had caught himself and he says they were very fiesty at first but could be tamed down with time.
