hi all, i got a 4yr old male beardie 2 days ago and hes been acting stange , he scratches at the uv light and viv window and he moves his head up and down rapidly ....... does anyone know why he might be acting this way ......

Its all normal mate...They don't understand glass i.e they can see through it, but they can't get past it etc
The UV scratching may because he's not getting enough. Not sure though.
The head 'bopping' is normal too. He's doing it as a way of showing dominance.
All normal and nothing to worry about.

thanks bud , i thought he was scratching the uv light because he didnt like it because he was grand when i turned it off but when i turned it back on , he went mad

maybe raise the light a bit, it may be too bright at his eye level if that makes sense. my uros glass surf all the time no idea why cause they have tons to do in their vivs. like richy said the head bobbing is normal. if you only got him a few days ago hes still settling in and his new viv may be different set up to his old one so might take him some time to get used to it. as long as hes feeding and cant injure/burn himself on the lights he should be fine

Both of my beardies do glass surf at times,the male was jumping and trying to get at the uv bulb so I raised it up and he is fine as for the head bobbing as the guys have said it's normal.
