No, have a look @ the website - www.thehsi.org and also through this section of the forum. It is the Herpetological Society of Ireland - a lot more than just a forum.

Hey All,

Yes we accept Sterling and to the best of my knowledge in those cases it would be round down. £15.00 for Student £22.00 for adult etc. We do accept postal orders. It would be great to see you join. The society does have a contact up the north. He is one of the science team members of the commitee.

As within our aims we plan to hold events and reach out days to different parts of the country. Currently the society is looking into suitable venues and dates and is making ensure there is enough interest. We are not just a Dublin based society so bear that in mind.

Great to see your considering joining we need as many members as possible. Im sure Ian will get back to you with more.

Thanks for your interest!

Well among other things!

Basically yes we hold events and plan to hold much more in the future. Our first Lecture is coming up on the 13th of April you can read all about that on the website or the events section on the forums. We also plan to have animal displays one in particular for probing, workshops, photography tutorials and if it permits some field herpetology experiences.

Thats what being a member will offer you. You also received the societys Publication named Lacerta. This is a full colour 20 page publication that is stocked in the national Libraries in Ireland and the UK. This is released every 3 months and we encourage our members to submit photography/artwork/articles. Its a great opportunity to become a published author.

We need increasing members for the society to grow. We are bound by our constitution and laws. We are not a random group just looking to take money from the public. The committe is comprised of some great people who have a wealth of information and knowledge with a dedicated science team that has some very experienced and educated people that are always willing to help where possible.

Visit the website for a full list of details - http://www.thehsi.org/index.php

all the important info about the society has been posted.
just thought I'd mention how great I think the Lacerta is,
even if cant make events, I think the membership fee is worth it just for the Lacerta alone.

Cheers

Thanks for that Syn. Lacerta is a great publication.....much much more than most other society newsletters.

Have a look at www.thehsi.org  and select the publications tab to have an exploded view of the a few past copies of Lacerta.

We have an event next week (13th April)....see Events for details.

Yes, the HSI has a website, but the website is not a forum; it is merely an addition means to getting information to our members and to non-members.

The HSI is relatively new, and so it is in the early stages of growing and gaining momentum.

For anyone who is interested in what we have to offer, I'd advise looking at the abridged version of the constitution on the www.thehsi.org   website.

From that, the HSI can interpret that on any specific query.

As for payment, all payments should be in Euros. Cash should not be sent through the post.

ps. Chinook.....I've got your PM (under my other username) and I've replied.
